Mommy Stories: My Birthday Gift

One year ago tomorrow was a day I will never forget.
I had lost my dad recently (well it wasn't recent but it was fresh to me still) and I was missing him so much. I wasn't feeling that great. My husband kept asking me what I wanted to do for my birthday (August 14th) and I just kept saying I wasn't sure, that I didn't feel right. Nothing sounded good for dinner. So we decided to go for Mexican for dinner. So I eat. I come home... and I feel even more like crap. Little did I know I had my rainbow baby growing inside of me.
The next day my husband said, "I'm going to go to the store and get you some ginger ale and some other little things. You stay home and rest." So that's what I did. He comes home with three different packages of pregnancy tests, ginger ale, and saltine crackers. I laughed when he gave me the test thinking, "you're joking right?" I used to take these tests like it was my life. I had been trying to have a baby for nearly nine years. So this wasn't something I ever thought was going to happen. I always would get disappointed when it was negative, so I stopped taking them. I decided to take one... and I could swear I saw another line. I took another test with as much pee as I could generate for this stick... which wasn't much so I just threw it in the sink. I went back to go throw the pregnancy test away and lo and behold I had two bring blazing pink lines!
"Okay okay fine, I'll take this stupid pregnant or not pregnant ones... those will for sure tell me the truth. I know this is going to be negative..."
I take it... PREGNANT ... WHATTTTTT??? I stood there just baffled and couldn't believe it. I was so nervous, but part of me was like, is this really happening right now? I was actually pregnant with my rainbow baby!
I didn't know how my birthday could get any better than that one. But somehow this year is even better because April 4th, 2019 I delivered a 7 pound 2 ounce 19.5 inch baby boy named Maverick. This year on August 14, on my birthday, I get to actually celebrate with my sweet rainbow baby because he is finally here with me. What a special birthday memory to have and share with my little man. Thank you for making me your Mama! Thank you for blessing me, my sweet little sugar booger.
Literally just one month before, I had officially become Kailey and Mia's Mommy for real and legally. I got to become a Mommy three times in one year - gave birth to one and adopted two. What a year... and how blessed am I to have three human beings that I love with my whole heart and get to share my birthday with!
