Mommy Stories: From Erica
As a new mom, I would have always compared my parenting, my child’s development, etc. to other parents and children and would have been self conscious with everything, if it wasn’t for being a twin mom.
Being a new mom of twins has really allowed me to not compare children’s development and needs. Seriously, every child is different and you as a parent have to try your best to accommodate and teach what your child needs. It really has allowed me to be open to learning different things from other parents because you can never know too much.
Even just a mundane thing such as drinking milk: Z breastfed pretty much from day one and E was breastfed till she was around four months, then drank pumped milk till she was one. No explanation needed, but it was the best decision for each of us in our family and it worked great. Now Z breastfeeds twice a day and is feeding cow's milk to herself throughout the day, and she doesn’t like the bottle whatsoever. E still likes to be fed but exclusively drinks cows' milk, but is starting to learn how to use a sippy cup. I really love how they are different and how every child is different.
